Bananas set by Charmaine Lee at Pioneer Works. The set was the usually great mix of contact-mic’ed vocalizations and intensely painful feedback. Several people around us were covering their ears or wearing, like us, ear plugs. The family who brought their child to this had to leave. I measured the volume at over 100dBs although it was about to get *much louder*.
Suddenly my chest and skin start vibrating as incredibly intense bass reverberated from the sound system. In this midst of this crazy section, we felt things hitting our arms and head. Allison found a paint chip and realized that the ancient, probably lead-based, paint was being peeled off the ceilings by the intense vibrations from the finale and falling on us.
