I saw my first Keith Haring chalk drawing at the 96th St subway station around 1981. I’d heard of him and was surprised to see one uptown. Some of his old drawings were on display at the Brant Foundation’s excellent retrospective in the original subway ad boards. Art collectors must have pried them off.
